Tripura faces flight crisis; Govt to reintroduce airline services within 15 days

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday assured to arrange some flights from Agartala to Delhi and Kolkata to reduce flight crisis as well as to give some relief to the passengers from the all-time high flight fares.

While inaugurating a Kalipuja at Shanitala near old Motor Stand, Deb said “The price hike of air tickets create a lot of problem among the people of the state. I am trying my best to reintroduce some airline services within next 15 days”.

He further informed that the government has taken initiatives to introduce at least two flights from Agartala to Kolkata and Agartala to Delhi. “The Central Government is also looking into the matter. The state government is also adopting policies so that flights could always provide services in the state,” added the chief minister.
It may be mentioned that Spice Jet Airlines withdrew all its services from Agartala Airport for past two months due to huge amount of revenue loss because of lack of business in the state. Indigo Airlines flights 6E139 and 6E833 , carrying passengers from Agartala to Kolkata everyday at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. respectively, have also been stopped by Indigo Airlines due to ‘fog’ issue.
