Two arrested for stealing permit passes

Madurai: The Perungudi police on Monday arrested two men for stealing six meant for the employees of an at International airport.
Prashanth Tryambak Chandratre, 45, and Charles Habil Joseph, 53, both hailing from Nashik in Maharashtra state, stole the six passes kept in the SpiceJet’s office at the terminal. They were arrested with the help of CCTV footage.
The men were booked on charges of theft, based on a complaint filed by security officer B Sakthimurugan, 40.
The police said the passes had been issued by the Airport Authority of India to the airline crew, which could be used to access the permitted places at the terminal. The duo came to the SpiceJet office at the terminal under the pretext of booking a ticket for their friend on Saturday.
The theft came to light only when the security officer found six permits short of the total passes issued to them.
