Hate having to wait at the boarding gate when your flights are delayed? Well, there might be some good news for you.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has proposed that passengers be allowed to leave the airport if their flight is delayed and has also suggested changes in security protocols to facilitate the process.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the proposal was discussed at a meeting between the DIAL and the Bureau of Civil Aviation which set the security protocols in airports around the country.
Presently, passengers are allowed leave the airport and re-enter if their flights are delayed or cancelled, but they have to be accompanied by a member of the airline till they are handed over to security.
A new boarding pass is also issued if the passenger has completed the security check-in and then wishes to leave the airport.
The new proposal seeks to streamline this process and also do away with the need to issue new boarding passes.
The facility, if it comes to effect, will be available for both international and domestic travellers.
