Hyderabad: 14 touts illegally operating taxis at RGI Airport caught

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested 14 touts illegally picking up passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Wednesday.
As unauthorised taxis operating from the airport posed a serious threat to passenger safety, police conducted a search operation at the RGI Airport and busted the racket.

A team of 90 cops headed by Shamshabad DCP N Prakash Reddy cordoned off all the roads leading to RGI Airport and conducted a check on touts trying to woo passengers who came out of both domestic and international terminals to get into unauthorised taxis.
Police identified 14 touts operating at the airport premises offering the passengers a quick ride into the city on both sharing or individual basis. "We have arrested 14 persons and seized eight cars. These people have been illegally operating from the airport premises. They harass passengers. There is no record of their taxi service operations. They charge heavily from passengers and also pose threat to passenger safety as their operations are not on record," DCP Prakash Reddy said.
