Guwahati: The year ended on a positive note for Assam and North Eastern region’s farmers as consignments of mandarin were sent off to Dubai and Hong Kong from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati, in an initiative by Industries and Commerce department, Government of Assam, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC) and Spice Jet.
The consignments were flagged off by Assam Industries and Commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, in the presence of several dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Patowary termed the beginning of export of organic products from Assam as well as North Eastern region through the Guwahati Airport as an immensely beneficial initiative for farmers of the region.
