Vasco: Goa customs on Wednesday seized foreign currency worth Rs 19 lakh from a passenger in international transit at Dabolim airport.
Based on intelligence inputs, deputy commissioner of customs, Raghvendra P, searched an Air India craft (AI993) headed from Bangalore to Dubai via Goa, looking for a passanger in international transit, who boarded the flight at Bangalore and was going to Dubai.
Once nabbed, foreign currency worth Rs 19 lakh was recovered from the accused. Under the supervision of additional customs commissioner T R Gajalakshmi, the currency notes were seized as per the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Customs commissioner R Manohar provided overall guidance to the operation.
