Ahmedabad airport parking fee raised 9 times in LS

Ahmedabad: The issue of parking fee levied at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad remained crucial during the discussions in the lower house of the Indian parliament.
This is clear as the issue was raised nine times over the four-year period from 2015 to 2018, by MPs from Gujarat.
Four MPs from Gujarat – Paresh Rawal, C R Paatil, Devusinh Chauhan and Dipsinh Rathod – raised questions in the Lok Sabha, regarding the installation of toll booths to levy parking fees at the SVPI airport, differential parking charges based on the type of vehicle and the revision in charges.
However, despite repeated revisions in the parking fees at the city airport, there appears to be no major difference for passengers moving in and out of the airport. Data reported in the Lok Sabha from 2015 to 2018, indicates that there has been no significant change in parking charges at the city airport which more or less remained the same — Rs 20 for two wheelers, Rs 85 for cars and Rs 100 for SUV, tempo, mini bus, coach, bus or a truck for the first two or four hours.
That apart, the city airport had a free time window of 10 minutes and 12 minutes for access to domestic and international terminals respectively for pick-up and drop in the departure and arrival areas.
