Five new SpiceJet flights from Sunday, Bhopal connects with Surat & Udaipur

Bhopal: Sunday will be a historic day for Raja Bhoj airport Bhopal when SpiceJet would introduce five new flights for different destinations.
SpiceJet would operate five flights from Bhopal to Delhi (two flights), and one each for Mumbai, Udaipur and Surat.

At present, SpiceJet operates to Hyderabad and Bangalore via Shirdi. While Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet are the airlines that operate from Bhopal.

Director Bhopal airport, Anil Vikram confirmed to TOI that five new flights will be start from March 31. “The new flights will connect four cities. This is an important development for the city,” said Vikram. About the schedule of the new flights, he said, “We will provide it later.”

SpiceJet had started operations from Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj earlier this year in January.

Spice Jet has deployed its Bombardier Q400 aircraft for all newly announced routes which are specifically designed for business travellers to facilitate a same-day return journey.

Last year, SpiceJet had announced Bhopal as its 50th domestic destination with the introduction of direct flights connecting Bhopal with Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Shirdi and Bengaluru via Shirdi. Earlier, Bhopal had direct flights only to Delhi and Mumbai. Later, Jaipur and Ahmedabad have been discontinued.

According to airport officials, SpiceJet also started parking two flights daily at Bhopal airport.

In the recent past, airlines had demanded reduction in VAT on ATF on a regular basis. Since ATF constitutes around 40% of overall cost of running a flight, airlines have been requesting the state government to reduce VAT.
