Mysuru to be air-linked to Kochi in April

Mysuru: Mysuru, which is already air-linked to Chennai, will soon be connected to Kochi as well. According to information shared by the office of Pratap Simha, Mysuru MP, Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, will operate an ATR 72 aircraft between Mysuru and Kochi.

Though the date for the start of services was not mentioned in the release, sources at the Mysuru airport said air services will become operational between the two cities in April.

“Already, officials of Alliance Air have inspected the Mysuru airport. The date for the start of flight services is yet to be announced. But, in all likelihood, the flight services will start in April,” an official at Mysuru airport said.

Kochi route figures among the five new cities to be connected with Mysuru under the third round of UDAN, the Centre’s Regional Air Connectivity scheme. The others are Goa, Hyderabad, Belagavi, and Bengaluru.
However, sources at the airport said the flight will originate from Hyderabad and arrive in Mysuru, before proceeding to Kochi. On its return, the flight will make a stop-over at Mysuru before flying to Hyderabad. Hence, the flight will be connected to Mysuru as well as Hyderabad. The service will operate to Kochi on all days of the week except Tuesday, when it will operate only between Mysuru and Hyderabad, airport officials said.
