SpiceJet cancels 12 flights at KIA

Around a dozen SpiceJet flights to and from Bengaluru were cancelled on Thursday.
The cancellation comes in the wake of the Ministry of Civil Aviation ordering the grounding of Boeing 737-8 flying in the Indian airspace.
Flights bound to Kolkata, Siliguri, Madurai, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad were cancelled. Similarly inbound flights to Madurai, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Kanpur and Siliguri were cancelled.
The Civil Aviation Ministry on Tuesday ordered the grounding of all Boeing 737/8 Max aircraft. It had said that Boeing 737/8 Max operations will stop from all Indian airport’s and the aircraft will be allowed to enter or transit Indian airspace.
SpiceJet has said that it is rationalising and optimising the use of its Boeing 737 NG and Bombardier Q400 aircraft to address the current situation and minimise inconvenience to its passengers.
“We are evaluating options for augmenting capacity in the coming days through a mix of additional flights and aircraft inductions. We are sure that our operations will be normal very soon. Complying with the DGCA directive, SpiceJet has grounded its entire B737 Max fleet.
