Bapat to focus on better flyer amenities at airport

Pune: MP Girish Bapat, the new president of the Pune Airport Advisory Committee, said he would actively take up the new regulations introduced by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at the Lohegaon facility, if they hassled the passengers.
Bapat said he was planning to hold the first meeting of the committee next month. “I have to study the new systems in place, but I have heard that stands of all public transport, including autorickshaws and cabs, have been moved out of the airport premises. The matter will be taken up in the meeting of the advisory committee next month and I shall check what the AAI plans to do. If the new system is causing inconvenience to flyers, it needs to be corrected,” he told TOI.
The new parking regulations are over two months old. Most passengers are unhappy about it. The penalty of Rs340 for vehicles remaining on the airport premises for more than three minutes is also a cause of worry. Public vehicle drivers must pay Rs50 whenever they enter the airport premises for a pickup.
Bapat said getting more land for the overall expansion of the airport was important.
