Do not cancel passes of Jet airport staff: RLC to Civil Aviation Ministry

Mumbai: The Regional Labour Commissioner (RLC) has advised the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security to not cancel any airport passes of Jet Airways’ employees.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Bhartiya Kamgar Sena, a Shiva Sena-affiliated union, the RLC had called a meeting on Monday.

While no representatives from the Civil Aviation Ministry were available, the hearing was attended by Vinay Dube, CEO of Jet Airways, along with other management staff and representatives of the union.

The union had demanded that the Central government issue a directive to State Bank of India — the lead lender to Jet Airways — to release the promised ₹1,500 crore of interim funding, besides clearing the salary and and PF dues.
The union had also requested that SBI be made a party to the dispute.
The RLC advised the Ministry of Civil Aviation to not cancel passes of employees who work at the airport and “adhere to the provisions of Section 33 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.”
