HAL successfully conducts night landing trials at Ozar

Nashik: The Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has successfully conducted night landing trials of civilian aircrafts at Ozar airport.
HAL had roped in a private airline to conduct the trials at the airport is located at Ozar, 20 km from Nashik city. The aircraft went through 10 trials involving landing and take-off at the airport on Saturday night. The director general civil aviation (DGCA) has issued instructions to HAL to conduct the trials.

HAL will be submitting a report about the trials to DGCA within the next few days, after which, the civil aviation watchdog is expected to give its permission for commercial flights to operate after dusk at the airport.

The DGCA has already certified night landing instruments at the Nashik airport, managed by HAL. The agency’s certification means that the instruments can be used to facilitate landing and take-off of the commercial aircrafts from the airport at night.

But DGCA had asked HAL to conduct night landing trials and submit the report. Accordingly, HAL conducted night landing trials through private airline.

“Now, we are just a step away from getting the green signal from DGCA to start night operations of aircrafts at the airport,” said the sources from HAL.

At present, no commercial aircrafts are allowed to operate after sunset at the airport. Spicejet is unable to start its Goa-Nashik operations under Union governent’s Udan scheme as the arrival time of the flight from Goa airport is 7 pm.
