Mangaluru: SpiceJet will begin to operate direct flights to New Delhi from the airport here soon. Direct flight services between these two destinations had been suspended for the last several months. The flights will begin to connect these two cities on August 4.
As per the current information, SpiceJet will operate an aircraft between the city and New Delhi. The flight will leave at 6.15 am and reach New Delhi at 8.55 am. On its return journey, the flight will leave New Delhi at 8.30 pm and reach here at 11.15 pm. This flight will begin its return journey the next morning.
In the past, Jet Airways used to operate a flight between the city and the capital city of India. The flight was taken off the chart a few months back. Thereafter, no direct flights were available to New Delhi from here. Passengers visiting Delhi had to go either to Mumbai or Bengaluru to catch onward flights to Delhi.
In view of the problems faced by passengers, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, had met union minister for civil aviation with a request to introduce direct flights between these two cities again.
