Hyderabad: More than 100 flyers faced inconvenience after two flights from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport were cancelled due to technical reasons on Wednesday.
In the first incident, a Puducherry- bound SpiceJet flight from RGIA was cancelled. The flight, which was supposed to reach RGIA from Renigunta airport in Chittoor, however, had to make an emergency landing minutes after taking off.
The crew detected a glitch after taking off from the Renigunta airport and after seeking permission from the Air Traffic Control, returned to Renigunta. The same flight, after reaching RGIA was supposed to fly to Puducherry. Sources said the passengers, who were waiting at the Renigunta airport, were accommodated in other flights to RGIA, while the flight to Puducherry was cancelled.
In a similar development, a flight to Belgaum from RGIA was also cancelled due to technical reasons. Officials said prior information was given to passengers to avoid confusion in the last minute.
