Mizoram set to get three more airlines soon

Aizwal: Mizoram, which has been facing air-link problems since February, will get three more airlines most probably starting from September next, an official said on Monday.
Principal Consultant for Civil Aviation, Wing Commander, Joe Lalhmingliana said that three airlines- Go Air, Indigo and Alliance Air will start operation in different sectors connecting Mizoram. He also said that that Go Air proposed to operate AIRBUS-320 daily service on Kolkata-Guwahati-Aizawl sector from September 23.
Lalhmingliana, who is now in Delhi, then said the other two airlines Indigo and Alliance Air are applying clearance from Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA).
“Once the two airlines obtained clearance from DGCA they will officially intimate to the Mizoram government about their schedules, timings and sectors,” he said.
Though it is not known when the two airlines will start operation, they are planning to start from October, he added. He further said that Indigo has proposed to operate AIRBUS-320 and Alliance Air will operate ATR 72, which can accommodate 74 passengers.
