ATC Guild conclave held in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Airport chapter of Air Traffic Controllers’ Guild (India), a professional body of air traffic controllers of Airports Authority of India observed the International Day of Air Traffic Controller in the city on Sunday.
International Day of Air Traffic Controller marks the founding anniversary of International Federation of Air Traffic Control Associations (IFATCA), established in 1961.
MP Shashi Tharoor who inaugurated the event appreciated the Air Traffic Controllers as unsung heroes who keep 3.5 billion air travellers safe daily. “Their profession calls for mastering complexity, alertness, patience and swift reactions,” he said.
He spoke about various developments relating to Trivandrum International Airport, ranging from the need for more flights, lower passenger charges to effective professional management and also suggested that policy changes be made regarding bilateral permissions for improving flight connectivity to Trivandrum Airport.
G Vijayaraghavan former planning board member, pointed out that development of Trivandrum airport is required for the development of southern Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu.
