Chennai-bound IndiGo flight halted after passenger says there's bomb on plane

Lucknow: A Chennai-bound IndiGo flight was halted on Saturday after a bomb threat. The passenger who informed the security of a bomb on the IndiGo flight was being interrogated for his unusual and abnormal behaviour at the airport.

The Lucknow Airport Authority, in a statement, said that the passenger, Piyush Verma was supposed to travel to Delhi by IndiGo 6E447 flight. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) held him after he displayed some unusual behaviour near the boarding gate no 5.

On being interrogated, the passenger told the CISF team that there was a bomb on the Chennai-bound which was supposed to leave at 7:25 pm.

"Piyush Verma, a passenger was interrogated for displaying unusual behaviour at the Lucknow Airport, today. During interrogation he said there is a bomb on a Chennai bound IndiGo flight, that was scheduled to depart at 7:25 pm," the Lucknow airport authority said.

The CISF alerted all the concerned agencies and the flight was halted. It has been suspected that the passenger is mentally unstable.
