City airport gets more wings: Now fly direct to Nagpur and Allahabad

Bhopal: In a major boost for Raja Bhoj airport, it has now been connected with two new cities — Nagpur and Allahabad. Announcing the winter schedule on Thursday, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that the winter schedule will be effective from October 27, 2019 to March 28, 2020.
According to the schedule, Bhopal airport will have the movement of 52 flights daily as compared to 46 earlier. Air connectivity to Jaipur has also been resumed, but flights to Shirdi and Surat have been discontinued citing poor response.

IndiGo will start both flights for Nagpur and Allahabad. For Nagpur, the IndiGo flight 6E 1226 will arrive at 8.20 pm and after 40 minutes stopover it will leave for Nagpur at 8.50 pm. Both the flights will start from November 10 daily.

From Allahabad, IndiGo flight 6E 7925 will reach Bhopal airport at 12 noon and fly from Allahabad at 10.25 am. From Bhopal, flight 6E 7926 will fly for Allahabad at 12.40 pm. The flight will Allahabad at 2 pm. At present, Bhopal is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Raipur, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Udaipur, and Pune with 46 flights in the summer schedule. Now, there will be 8 flights for Delhi.

Till Dec 2018, it was only connected to two major cities — Delhi and Mumbai — with 10 daily flights. The increase in passenger traffic has been visible since January. As compared to 2018, in 2019 there was a 26.94% jump in passenger footfall in the first month. In January 2018, the footfall was 66,447 and in January 2019 it was 84,349.
