Vistara flights cut down reliance on single-use plastic

Mumbai: TATA-SIA joint venture airline Vistara on Wednesday announced the reduction of sidle-use plastic by about 75% on all its domestic flights.
"The effort includes 100% elimination of 200ml plastic water bottles on all flights within India effective October 2 - an initiative that the airline announced in July 2019 starting with flights between Delhi and Mumbai," said a statement issued by Vistara adding that the bottles alone accounted for more than 50% of single-use plastic onboard Vistara’s flights.
The airline now packs plastic cutlery and creamers with paper pouch instead of plastic. It has replaced plastic meal casserole and lids with aluminium in economy class, single-use plastic bowl covers in premium economy and business class has been replaced with reusable covers, wooden stirrers have replaced plastic ones and single-use plastic bowls and cups from meal trays have given way to reusable ones.
