All women cab service launched from Indore airport

Indore: An all-women driven cab service was launched from Indore airport with the assistance of a local NGO on Monday.
The 24-hour service will have taxi cabs driven by women staff – a long pending demand noticed after the night flight operations were started in Indore, airport director Aryamma Sanyal told reporters.
The taxi service was flagged off at a brief function by Indore MP Shankar Lalwani. He said that the Sakha Cab service gave opportunity to women from low income group to earn a livelihood.
The women staff were trained by the NGO and equipped with skills to manage all kind of situations, he said adding the drivers had got their valid driving licences and will be available to ferry passengers round the clock.
Arpita Arya, a member of the driver’s fleet, told reporters that it was difficult for their families to accept that the women folk would be operating taxis in the night. “But over a period of time, we gained confidence and now are in a position to face any situation,” she said.
