Owners of structures in airport vicinity move HC

Mohali: The owners of 98 structures around the airport, which have been issued demolition notices by the Mohali administration, have approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The High Court has set December 5 as the next date of hearing in this connection. The local administration has to wait till then to initiate its demolition drive.
Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said he had also given a personal hearing to the owners of the 98 structures in question. “The owners have some issues regarding the compensation in lieu of their land located in the prohibited area around the Air Force Station/airport. They have also approached the High Court in this connection. Now, we are waiting for further directions from the High Court in this regard,” said Dayalan. The High Court had earlier issued orders in this regard, giving four months to the administration for demolition of the structures in question. Over two months have already passed.
Earlier, the administration was intending to start the demolition drive after Diwali.
Dayalan said he had submitted his report pertaining to the personal hearing with the owners to the High Court.
