Chairperson-Lokpal exempted from frisking at airports

New Delhi: The spouse of vice-president of India is now exempt from pre-embarkation security checks (PESC) at airports even when travelling alone. So far only the Indian president’s spouse was exempt from frisking when travelling alone. Also, the Chairperson-Lokpal has been added to the list of VVIPs exempt from frisking at airports.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has a list of 30 VVIPs who, along with their accompanying spouses, are exempt from PESC at airports. The president of India’s spouse was the only one exempt from frisking even when travelling alone. Recently, BCAS issued an order exempting the Indian VP’s spouse also.
