Consumer court fines Turkish Airlines Rs 1.7 lakh

Karnal: The District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum has directed Turkish Airlines to pay Rs 1.7 lakh to Kanv Deep of Karnal for harassing him and members of his family by forcing them to stay for around 24 hours at the Istanbul airport.
The court has directed the airline to pay the amount within one month.

In his complaint, Kanv Deep stated that he was travelling to Toronto via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines with his wife and daughter to attend the last rites of his uncle. He stated that due to the negligence on the part of the airlines, they could not get a connecting flight from Istanbul and had to spend 24 hours at the airport without any accommodation facility.
