Panaji: Direct flights from Goa to the Union territory (UT) of Lakshadweep may soon be revived. Officials from the island territory are in talks with the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) to restart the direct commute between the two coastal regions, Mihir Vardhan, chief secretary, UT of Lakshadweep said. He was speaking at the Film Bazaar on Sunday.
“We had discussed this with GTDC because we want to have some connection from Goa to Lakshadweep. If we can revive this connection, then the tourists who come to Goa can also travel to Lakshadweep for a different experience,” he told TOI.
“We can offer an exclusive package for tourists who visit Goa, wherein they can come to Lakshadweep for scuba diving alone. If we have proper connectivity between the two coastal regions, we could work out this partnership,” Vardhan who earlier served in Goa, said.
He further said that they are in discussions with the Union ministry of civil aviation and airline companies as well.
