Trichy: IndiGo Air is to launch its fifth daily service to Chennai from Trichy on December 23, taking the total number of flights from the city — domestic and international — to 154. Flight 6E 7263 will leave Chennai at 5.55 pm every day and reach Trichy at 7.15 pm. The return flight, 6E 7243, will leave here at 7.45 pm and reach Chennai at 9 pm, the airline said.
IndiGo has already been operating four daily services to Chennai and two to Bengaluru from Trichy. The airline had also launched a daily service to Hyderabad from November 16 and is extending its services to Singapore too.
The number of domestic flights operated by IndiGo from Trichy will go up to 56 a week with the latest addition.
Meanwhile, Alliance Air, which is operating a service to Chennai, has announced suspension of service for 10 days from November 23 citing operational reasons.
A subsidiary of Air India, it is the only carrier other than IndiGo to operate to Chennai every day. Alliance commenced its Chennai service in August 2017 and since then has been continuing the service unhindered.
