Rupshi Airport Revival Demand Committee urges AAI to reopen Rupshi Airstrip soon

Dhubri: Members of Rupshi Airport Revival Demand Committee (RARDC) led by its senior member, Bhagawati Bajaj and secretary, Jyotirmoy Chakraborty visited the airstrip recently and urged AAI to reopen it soon. A seven-member team of RARDC visited the Rupshi airstrip and took stock of the works.

The members expressed satisfaction over completion of the airport after a long demand which undoubtedly would fulfil the aspiration of air connectivity from lower Assam with rest of the country.

Talking to The Sentinel, senior member of RARDC, Bhagawati Bajaj informed that at last their dream will be coming true with the reopening of the Rupshi Airport and this part of Assam would be again in the air connectivity map of the country.

“All the works barring few already have been completed in September this year. Now it is waiting for formal inauguration with Dhubri-Guwahati flight by Airport Authority of India (AAI). People of this part, waited for 36 long  years to get their demand fulfilled, so AAI should start operation at the earliest,” Bajaj added.
