Kolkata: Flights to the Northeast cities continued to be cancelled and delayed at Kolkata airport on Friday leaving scores of passengers in the lurch. Tourists, too, were left stranded after a flight to Shillong, scheduled to take-off at 9.45am, was cancelled. All airlines operating flights to the region that has been struck by agitations sparked off by the CAB issued an advisory for passengers informing them of the possibility of cancellations. The latter have been told that cancellation fee will be waived and the entire fare will be refunded in case of cancelled flights.
An Air-India flight to Dibrugarh at 6.45am was the only one to fly to the city. The other three Dibrugarh flights of the day were cancelled. An Indigo flight to Shillong was also called off while a Kolkata-Guwahati Indigo flight scheduled at 9.20pm was cancelled as well. Other flights to Guwahati, however, were operated on schedule. The city has 15 flights to Guwahati. Airlines authorities issued advisories asking passengers to be ready for delays and cancellations. They have been offering total refund for cancelled flights while no penalty is being charged for delayed cancellation of tickets.
