Gurugram: Flight attendant found hanging, PG owner booked

Gurugram: A 23-year-old SpiceJet flight attendant was found hanging from a ceiling fan at a guesthouse in DLF Phase 3 early on Wednesday morning. The owner of the PG facility has been booked for abetment to suicide. No arrests have been made yet.

The deceased, identified as Mistu Sarkar, belonged to West Bengal. She had joined the private airline a few months ago.

Havloo Chandra Sarkar, in his complaint to police, said that Mistu, his eldest daughter, was being harassed by the guesthouse owner, Amrendra Singh, who, he alleged, had hacked her phone and subjected her to humiliation.

“Around midnight on Tuesday, I received a call from my daughter on my mobile phone. She was crying and told me that Singh had been harassing and insulting her. He had hacked my daughter’s phone,” Sarkar told police, adding that Mistu was very disturbed and wanted to return home.

“I asked her to come back and she hung up,” said Sarkar, who works in a private company in Bengal and stays with his wife and another daughter.

After some time, Sarkar said he received a call from Singh saying he was apprehensive that Mistu might ‘do something’.

“On Wednesday morning, I received a call from police who informed me that my daughter had committed suicide by hanging herself,” said Sarkar.
