Nashik: State-owned aerospace and defence company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has sought district administration’s intervention to ensure that all highrise projects planned near the airport must seek a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the company.
A meeting of HAL’s aerodrome committee, aerodrome emergency committee and airfield environment management committee was recently held with the district administration.
During the meeting, HAL officials reminded that since commercial flights operate from HAL airport at Ozar, all highrise projects coming up near the airport must get prior approval from the local airport authorities as instructed by Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The airport runway is 3.5-km-long, starting from Ozar and ends at Janori village. “We had a meeting with the district administration on safety issues. We are in discussion with them to make HAL’s NOC mandatory for construction of highrise buildings, but nothing has been finalised yet,” an official from HAL said.
“Safety guidelines for airports have been laid down by the AAI. It was just a primary discussion with the district administration. The height limit and areas where HAL’s NOC will be required is yet to be decided,” the official said.
