Varanasi: A number of passengers remained stranded at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport after several flights were diverted or cancelled due to bad weather on Wednesday.
According to airport spokesperson Ranjeet Verma, as many as six flights were diverted from their scheduled routes, while five flights were cancelled due to poor visibility.
The flights including Indigo 6E-897 (Bangalore to Varanasi), Indigo 6E-713 (Kolkata to Varanasi), SpiceJet 2985 (Jaipur to Varanasi), and Indigo 098 (Swarnabhumi to Varanasi) were diverted to Kolkata, while Indigo 906 (Delhi to Varanasi) was diverted to Ranchi and Vistara 631 (Delhi to Varanasi) was diverted to Khajuraho.
The flights cancelled were GoAir 768 (Varanasi to Ahmedabad), Indigo 7716 (Varanasi to Kolkata), Indigo 499 (Varanasi to Bangalore), Indigo 6635 (Varanasi to Delhi) and Indigo 716 (Varanasi to Bangalore).
