Passengers approach police over flight delay by AI

Surat: Over two dozen passengers of Air India flight from Surat to Bengaluru approached police to complain against AI staff at Surat airport.
Air India’s AI-519 flight was scheduled to depart from Surat airport to Bengaluru at 11am on Thursday. Passengers were waiting at the airport and the AI staff kept on changing the flight schedule. The passengers were told in the evening that the flight was cancelled and that they will have to travel to Ahmedabad by road to board the flight or else board Delhi flight to get connecting flight to Bengaluru on Friday. When majority of passengers didn’t accept the offer, the AI staff stated that Bengaluru flight will depart on Friday morning at 8:30am.
Nitin Pradhan, an advocate from Vyara, said, “The AI staff at Surat promised that Bengaluru flight will depart at 8:30am on Friday. All the passengers arrived at the airport and again the staff told us that the flight was delayed and will depart at 12:45pm. When we asked them to give us in writing, one of the AI staff used abusive language against the passengers. It was only after we announced our plan to lodge a police complaint, the AI staff came under pressure and about 53 passengers were allowed to board Bengaluru flight at 2pm on Friday.”
