Air Intelligence Unit Customs officials at Visakhapatnam International Airport arrested two passengers and seized 51.5 lakh worth of gold from them. The arrested passengers hail from Dubai and are carrying 1166 grams of gold to India. But the gold jewelery was recovered after being checked by customs officials.
In the meantime, the Ranganatha Mansion in Chikpeta area of Bengaluru was raided on Tuesday and found illegal jewelery. Officials of the Karnataka Government's Commercial Taxes Department have seized 60 kg of gold jewelery worth Rs 21 crore. The latest acquisition of gold worth 51.5 lakhs in Vishakhapatnam has shook the officials.
