Cost cutting: Air India reduces crew allowances, union opposes

New Delhi: In a bid to cut costs amid the massive coronavirus blow to travel, Air India has reduced the crew allowances and lowered fuel reimbursement limit by 10% for all officers.
AI ED (finance) SK Singh issued a circular on Tuesday for the new “cost cutting measures.”
“Executive entertainment allowance to executive pilots: With immediate effect, (this) stands withdrawn. Layover / Subsistence Allowance for Cabin Crew: All Cabin Crew (Permanent and Contractual) rostered for flying duties from April 1, 2020, will have revised layover allowance of $ 100 for 30 hours and thereafter at the rate of $4 for every additional hour in excess of 30 hours. In case of ULR (ultra long range flights), $140 for 30 hours and thereafter $6 for every additional hour in excess of 30 hours,” it says.
