Delhi airport authorities claim viral video of people shouting "please shoot us" is old

New Delhi: Amid stringent screening of passengers at airports due to coronavirus, a video tweeted by actor Soni Razdan went viral on social media on Wednesday.

In the video, one can see passengers at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 3 immigration counters screaming at the officials present, asking to be allowed to leave the airport.
Sharing the video, Razdan said, "New Delhi International airport T3 today. Now they are taking the passport of the arriving passengers and not returning them till all the tests are done. Even Indian citizens with Indian passport holders are not allowed to exit. Passengers are screaming at police to kill them."

In the video tweeted and several others from the same episode that did the rounds, you can hear passengers expressing their frustration over being held up for the mandatory coronavirus screening at the international airport. You can hear them make a range of angered pleas, from "Please shoot us" to "Please give us our passports. We don't want to stay here. We don't feel safe here."

Now, IGI authorities have refuted the claims.

Replying to Soni Razdan, Delhi airport's official Twitter handle said, "Dear ma'am, the video being circulated is an old one. Currently, all immigration-related processes have been streamlined and operations are fully normal. We continue to work in close coordination with all stakeholders to minimize any inconvenience to passengers."
Upon being told it's an old video, Soni Razdan immediately deleted the video that had already created a storm on social media.

Delhi airport sources have told India Today TV that these videos are from the morning of March 16, when approximately 350 passengers arrived in Delhi on two Air India flights from Frankfurt and Paris respectively. The argument witnessed in the videos was over their refusal to be quarantined and the unexpected delay the procedure was causing.
