Kannur: Customs sleuths on Wednesday seized 692 grams of gold worth around Rs 29 lakh from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Doha in Air India Express flight.
Customs Assistant Commissioner S Madhusudana Bhat-led team has detained Shameem Puthiyotil (40), of Peringathur in this district, along with the smuggled gold.
The seized gold was kept in his inner wear in capsule form.
