Tripura MBB Airport’s new terminal to be commissioned by Sept: AAI

Agartala: The under-construction new terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (MBB) in Agartala will be commissioned by the end of September, ahead of Durga puja, said Airports Authority of India (AAI) regional director (NE) Sanjeev Jindal.

After inspecting the ongoing construction work of the new terminal building and participating in a International Women’s Day celebration, Jindal said that all the latest technologies are being installed at the new terminal building. As such, the commissioning date, earlier fixed for April, will be delayed, he said.

The land for the MBB Airport was donated by then Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur. In 2018, the airport was named after him.

“A total of Rs 500 cr would be spent in building this terminal building and the new infrastructure is capable of handling 4 to 5 times more passengers than the existing terminal. We are going to install the latest technological inputs,” Jindal said.
