184 Indians fly home on second flight from Bahrain

The Air India Express flight took off from Bahrain International Airport to Kozhikode, Kerala amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Onboard were people on the Indian Embassy’s priority list, including pregnant women, those with medical conditions, elderly and those who lost their jobs.
“The flight arrived late by an hour and hence was delayed in the takeoff as well,” Indian Embassy charge d’affaires Norbu Negi told the GDN.
“All procedures were smooth and all the 180 people and four infants checked in as per protocol.”
Passengers who were at the airport five hours ahead of the scheduled time underwent a thermal screening before boarding, while community volunteers provided them with hand sanitisers, masks and gloves.
They are among the thousands of Indians who have registered to return home on the online platforms of the embassy and the Non-Resident Keralites Association (Norka).
The first Air India Express flight took home 182 Indians from Bahrain to Kochi on Friday.
The flights are part of the first phase of the Indian government’s evacuation plan from across the Gulf, the US, the UK and other countries.
