Two passengers on SpiceJet’s Ahmedabad-Guwahati flight test Covid-19 positive

New Delhi: As coronavirus cases continue to mount in India, two passengers who flew from Ahmedabad to Guwahati via Delhi on a SpiceJet flight on Monday tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, the airline confirmed on Wednesday.

This comes at a time when the government of India resumed domestic passenger flights in the country on Monday after over two months since the first coronavirus lockdown began on March 25. International commercial flights, however, continue to remain suspended.

“Two passengers who had travelled with SpiceJet from Ahmedabad to Guwahati on May 25 have tested positive for Covid-19. The passengers had travelled on SG-8194 (Ahmedabad-Delhi) and SG-8152 (Delhi-Guwahati),” the spokesperson of the airline said.

Following the development, the operating crew of the airline has been quarantined and contact tracing is being done for other passengers on the flight.
