Kannur: Air Customs sleuths on Saturday seized 2,147 grams of gold worth around Rs 1.10 crores from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Dubai in an Air India flight.
Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained Siraj P of Palayad Nada of Kozhikode district in this connection.
This is the first time that gold worth such a huge amount has been seized at Kannur International Airport from a single passenger since its commercial operation begins, said Raju N, Customs Superintendent.
