Mohali: The Air India express flight from Sharjah arrived late at the Chandigarh International Airport on Saturday. The airport authorities said the flight arrived late by 1.34 hours as it departed late from the source. The same flight in its onward journey to Delhi departed late from Chandigarh by 1.49 hours.
Air India flight to Delhi departed late by 3 hours from Chandigarh at 3.40 pm, against its scheduled departure of 12.40 pm due to poor visibility, said the officials.
A total of 20 flights were delayed in which 14 departed late, whereas six flights arrived late at the Chandigarh airport. Two flights were cancelled due to poor visibility. GoAir flight (G8-104) to Delhi was cancelled, whereas Air India flight did not arrive from Delhi.
Poor visibility conditions due to dense fog continued at the Chandigarh International Airport till the afternoon, after which the visibility improved to reach at 500 metres, but still the flights got delayed. The visibility in the morning dropped to as low as 186 metres, said an official.
