Tejashwi Yadav meets kin of slain Indigo manager in Chhapra; urges ‘weak CM’ to control crime

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday met with the family members of IndiGo airlines manager Rupesh Kumar Singh who was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne men in the Punaichak area of Patna on January 12.

Tejashwi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, launched a scathing attack on Nitish Kumar calling him a weak Chief Minister. He requested the Bihar Chief Minister to look into the law and order situation in the state.

"Going to meet the family of Rupesh Singh (IndiGo manager murdered in Patna). No arrests made yet. DGP says crime rate was higher in 2019, has come down now but for 16 years, Nitish Kumar has been CM. If police behave like this, one can understand ground reality," the RJD leader said before leaving for Chhapra today.

"Requesting Nitish Kumar with folded hands...We know that you're weak CM but for the sake of your position, please don't let human lives be sacrificed. It is your (Bihar CM) responsibility to control crime in the state," he added.

On Saturday, Tejashwi Yadav had charged that the ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance in Bihar has become a "trouble engine" instead of the "double engine" that had promised to propel the state towards progress. He had said that Bihar is becoming the crime capital of the country and those sitting in power in the State are protecting the criminals.
