Air India announces a Delhi-Sydney flight as New Zealand suspends travel from India

Air India will operate a flight from Delhi to Sydney on April 10.

The announcement came soon after the New Zealand government decided to suspend travel from India on Thursday.

"Air India will operate a flight from Delhi to Sydney on 10 April 2021. Limited seats (are) being offered due to quarantine restrictions by Australian Authorities," the airline said in a social media post.

Air India had operated weekly flights between Delhi and Sydney in February and March.

Its schedule for April is still unclear.

Air India officials were not available for comments.

New Zealand has suspended travel from India following a surge in coronavirus cases in India.

The ban will commence on 11 April and remain in place until 28 April.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said this is not a permanent arrangement.
