Bengaluru: Airport taxi drivers' strike called off

Bengaluru: Airport cab drivers on Thursday called off the strike after discussions with government officials.

A member of an airport taxi driver's union said they called off their strike at 3pm. "We have given them time till Monday to look into our demands. Our main demand is to have a 'common fare structure' for all airport taxi operators".

Passengers traveling to and from Kempegowda International Airport faced hardship, after cab drivers at the airport began a flash strike late Tuesday night and continued till Thursday afternoon.

Cab drivers decided to go on a strike after their colleague, Pratap, 34, set himself ablaze inside his cab. He was rushed to Victoria Hospital, but succumbed to injuries at midnight. He was attached to the airport taxi service of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation.
