Man arrested for trespassing Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru: A man was arrested for allegedly trespassing the old airport premises at Bajpe in Mangaluru on Tuesday.

The arrested man was identified as Rakesh (40), a resident of Badua village of Murshidabad district in West Bengal.

Based on a complaint filed by an inspector of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), police booked a case against Rakesh.

Deputy commissioner of police Hariram Shankar said the CISF men, who were on a routine patrolling, found Rakesh roaming inside the old airport, where a runway work was in progress at around 11pm on Monday.

“Rakesh told the CISF men that he was working as a cleaner in a truck. The driver of the truck allegedly left him near the airport without paying him his salary. According to him, he reached the airport premises after he lost his way,” the DCP said.
