Air India today said no flight will be able to take off to Afghanistan as the Kabul due to airspace shutdown, news agency ANI reported. The flights were scheduled to depart from Delhi at 12:30 pm today.
Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) has said the Kabul airspace has been released to the US military and it advises transit aircraft to reroute, according to a notice to airmen on its website.
“There will be no commercial flights from Hamid Karzai Airport to prevent looting and plundering. Please do not rush to the airport,” the Kabul airport authority says in a message sent to reporters.
This means Air India aircraft tasked to fly to Afghanistan to bring out people will no longer be able to go there too.
Chaos unfolded at Kabul airport this morning after thousands of people rushed in to take any available flight out of the country.
