Air Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 28 lakh at Kannur Int'l Airport, one held

Kannur: Air Customs sleuths on Tuesday seized 583 grams of gold valued around Rs 28 lakh from a passenger who arrived at the Kannur International Airport from Sharjah in an Indigo flight.

Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained Shahid of Manjeswaram in Kasaragod district in this connection.

The seized gold was concealed in a mixer grinder.

The arrested person has been enlarged on bail and further investigation is underway, Customs Superintendent V P Baby said.
