In a first, Aurangabad airport gets Param Vir Chakra Gallery

Aurangabad: As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations, India’s first 'Param Vir Chakra Smruti Gallery' was inaugurated here on Thursday.

The most striking feature of this gallery is that it has been set up in the premises of the Aurangabad airport, stated Collector Sunil Chavan while speaking at the inaugural ceremony.

He further said that the gallery, which displays the portraits of 21 brave hearts awarded the military’s highest decoration, will be important for inspiring patriotism in the minds of citizens.

This initiative could become a reality through the sincere efforts of Aurangabad Airport Authority and Mathrubhumi Sanstha, he mentioned.

He asserted that Aurangabad is well known in the tourism sector and this gallery will help to spread the message of patriotism and sacrifices of our heroic soldiers to other states and countries.

In the program, retired Colonel Sameer Raut and Sanstha President Jaswant Singh Rajput recollected the events of the Kargil war.

They also paid tributes to late General Bipin Rawat who recently passed away in an army helicopter crash.

CISF CSO Pawan Kumar, Former Commissioner of Human Development Mission Bhaskar Munde, Director of Airport DG Salve and Deputy Director of Tourism Shrimant Harkar were present at the function.
