Monkeypox screening for int’l flyers starts at airport

Indore: People arriving from Dubai to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport of Indore will have to undergo strict health screening for monkeypox.

Air India’s weekly international flight from Dubai to Indore arrived on Saturday night at 11.45pm - after 24x7 operations were resumed at the airport.

The flight was carrying 155 passengers and health screening was done by a team of the district health department. “None of the arriving passengers had any symptoms and all were found to be negative for the disease,” officials at the airport claimed.

Airport’s officiating director Sudha Rangnathan said that they are following the prescribed government protocols for safety of passengers at the airport.

“We have a weekly international flight between Indore and Dubai, and it has been made compulsory for all arriving passengers to undergo strict health screening as per the ministry of health and family welfare’s guidelines for management of monkeypox disease,” she said.
