Manali: Alliance Air will soon conduct a trial sortie to Kullu-Manali Airport at Bhuntar as the company has added ATR-42 aircraft to its fleet, four-time MP from Mandi constituency Maheshwar Singh said on Friday.
The former MP and veteran BJP leader said he was informed about the development by Union minister of state for civil aviation Gen V K Singh (retd). Maheshwar said he has been raising the issue of operating small aircrafts to all three airports of Himachal for the last two decades.
“The runway of Kullu airport is very short and large aircrafts cannot land here. Our tourism industry is being hit hard due to limited sorties and high airfare. The Union minister has assured that ATR-42 will conduct sorties to Kullu very soon. It will provide relief to residents. Today, I spoke to the minister over the phone and I thanked him on behalf of the public of Kullu,” he said.
